APW’s assignment: Write a poem using the following line
- “First evening in Athens, a long
goodbye”
Roots
grow deepthis rambler found
that time can’t detach.
Yet I, with simple longing
and unrealistic dreams of life, felt
newly untethered when I moved from home
never imagining that it was but the commencement
of yearning and sad remembrance that dated from my
first evening in Athens, a long goodbye to the past.
A near Etheree, I guess? Instead of syllables I used word count.
