Prompt for Margo Roby: Wordgathering

Poem Tryouts: Colouring Outside the Lines

     Thick, pellucid, amber sweetness
     drips from your honeyed tongue
in sticky streams of golden viscous lies
     suspending me in butterscotch
     memories of cruel, hazel eyes.

  1. Have you read this aloud? The use of all the esses suits the piece terrifically.

    1. I went back and read it again aloud... sort of makes me think of a snake, just like the lying fellow, ha.

  2. Thanks. My mentor tells me to read my poetry out loud all the time. It helps to hear the flow. That has helped a lot cause sometimes I'll read it and hear how awkward or stilted a piece is. Thank you for your comment!

    1. I love that you have a (poetic) mentor...♥

    2. You might recognize his name from Poetic Bloomings - Sal Buttaci. He has been giving me basic poetry lessons. He is a retired teacher and a terrific poet. I never had the chance to go to college so his tutoring is a real blessing.

  3. Oh, wow...so neat what our minds can do...working under the surface to create even more of the idea that we wish to express....the esses...lying snakes! :)

    1. Isn't it. I didn't realize until Margo pointed it out.

  4. Thanks for popping in my WP site - I have this one too as some have issues leaving comments.
Margo is a gem - I guess I can't be surprised that many of us have had the same teacher! One teacher to about 25 to 30 students over how many years.

I am so glad you are writing...your talent is no longer hidden in honey combs, but flowing quite nicely. Lucky to have a mentor. :)
